One of the most successful films this past year was the unsettling and riveting, Joker. This film is unlike any other that has been produced by the comic book juggernaut, DC Comics. Joker is damaging, beautiful, and artistic. But the darkness in this movie was a risky move in the superhero genre, which is known for a more action-packed optimistic approach. Yet audiences loved it. Joker made over a billion dollars at the box office and this just goes to show that people are craving something with a bit more grit at the movies.
